SPAIN: Ronaldo becomes world’s biggest earner

Spain

Cristiano Ronaldo, formerly the most expensive footballer of all time, has signed a new five year deal to remain at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Real Madrid and Ronaldo are yet to confirm the length and any details surrounding the extension, however many Spanish media outlets claim the Portuguese winger will earn €17m annually, more than any other player in the world.

Cristiano Ronaldo arrived from Manchester United for the then world record fee of £80m in 2009, yet was heavily linked with a move away from Los Merengues after Gareth Bale’s acquisition from Tottenham Hotspur broke his record, thus shifting the focus from the ex-Sporting Lisbon attacker to the latest Galáctico.

Since moving to Spain, Ronaldo has scored 203 goals in as many appearances, winning a league title and a Copa Del Rey winners medal during his time in Madrid.
