Ross County and Highland rivals Inverness Caledonian Thistle have been busy adding to their respective squads.
The Staggies have completed a deal to bring ex-Motherwell and Scotland capped Steven Saunders to the Global Energy Stadium in a bid to strengthen their defence, Saunders (shown above) who had been on trial at Sheffield United decided to come back north when the opportunity arose, he missed most of last season recovering from surgery from an achilles tendon injury. He was released by Motherwell this summer.
Boss Derek Adams told the clubs official website: “Steven is a highly rated defender and was attracting a lot of attention from other clubs. We are delighted he has chosen to join Ross County”.
Meanwhile in Inverness have signed Luton Town goalkeeper Dean Brill on loan until January, this ends boss Terry Butcher’s search for an experienced back-up to number one Ryan Esson.
An interview gave to ICT.com Butcher was happy to have added Brill to his squad for 6 months. “I’m pleased and relieved that Dean has agreed to come north”, said Butcher. “He’s a seasoned campaigner who should be ready to fit into Premier League action when selected. Healthy competition is important to keep both keepers on their toes and Dean will be determined to stake his claim.
“Ryan’s been a very fine keeper for this club but he had his injury problems last season which underlined that we could not afford to have inexperienced backup.”
