CHILE 1-1 ENGLAND
Tottenham Hotspur’s young striker Harry Kane scored to save England from defeat to Chile as Peter Taylor side grabbed their second draw in the group.
Kane collected a pass from Everton midfielder Ross Barkley in the 64th minute and beat goalkeeper Dario Melo with a low shot at the near post to give the Three Lions just their second point of the tournament after drawing 2-2 against Iraq.
Nicolas Castillo had put Chile in front from the penalty spot in the 32nd after Daniel Potts brought down Chile winger Angelo Henriquez.
England now must defeat a strong Egypt side to have any chance of making it through to the knockout stages.
IRAQ 2-1 EGYPT
The underdogs of Iraq are now top of their group after they stunned match favourites Egypt 2-1 in a deserved win.
Iraq had the better of the play early in the match but it was the African side that gained the lead after 27 minutes. Egyptian striker Trezeget flicked the ball wide for Ibrahim Osama who delivered a first-time cross that Hassan Ahmed met with the perfect header, sending the ball into the net.
However, Egypt were not in front for long. Ammar Abdulhussein managed to squeeze the ball in from close range just five minutes later to ensure that the sides headed into half-time 1-1.
Mohamed Samir had a good chance to restore Egypt’s lead, but it was the Iraqis that managed to find the third goal of the game. The hero was Mohanad Abdulraheem, who showed great skill to flick the ball past Metwaly Mahmoud, take it round the keeper, away from Ibrahim Osama and finally, finding a gap to shoot between the two defenders sliding in to cover the line.
