Dortmund centre-back Felipe Santana has been rumoured to join Ruhr rivals Schalke 04 for the past few months and is now confirmed to join the Royal Blues in a reported three-year contract with them.
Santana will join an exclusive group of players to play for both Ruhr Valley clubs, following Jens Lehmann, Andreas Moller and more recently, Christoph Metzelder. The Brazilian, who scored the last minute goal against Malaga that sent Dortmund to the semi-finals, will be directly replaced by Sokratis Papastathopoulos (pictured above). The 24-year-old Greek international, who last played for Werder Bremen was in the books for AEK Athens, Genoa and Milan, and will now don the yellow shirt of Dortmund, signing a five-year contract.
Jurgen Klopp will be keen to improve his young team as Bayern Munich showed in the final the lack of depth in the Dortmund squad.
