AUSTRIA: Austria Wien win title

Austria Wien have clinched the Bundesliga title in dominant fashion this season with a 4:0 dismantling of SV Mattersburg. The Austrian club celebrated heavily on Wednesday night after the victory and a video has been released of the team dunking a television reporter into a tub during the celebrations.

While the Vienna club cruised on by their opponents, title rivals Red Bull Salzburg struggled on Wednesday night and only managed to secure a two-all draw against Ried. This would have ruined the team’s title chances regardless of the result of Austria Wien vs. Mattersburg.

A massive victory for Wiener Neustadt saw the recently promoted team climb out of the relegation zone. A 2-0 victory against RZ Pellets WAC gave the team a total of 33 points for the season. Admira Modling lost against Rapid Wien by two goals to none and merely has 32 points therefore the team now sits in last place. Sandwiched between these two teams is FC Wacker Innsbruck also with 33 points. Mattersburg with 35 points is also not safe yet. Moreover it will all come down to the final day in the Bundesliga on Sunday May 26^th when the fate of these clubs will be decided.
