German newspaper BILD report Borussia Dortmund are interested in Atlético Mineiro’s prodigy Bernard, the original reports coming from Brazilian from Minas Gerais press back this claim up.
The Bundesliga side’s sporting director Michael Zorc this week met officials from Bernard’s club Atletico Mineiro to negotiate a move. The 20-year-old winger is seen as a candidate to replace German international midfielder Mario Gotze, who Dortmund have sold to Bayern Munich for €37 million.
Considered one of the most promising midfielders in Brazil, Bernard is renowned for his speed, slick passing and scoring ability. He made his debut for Brazil’s national team in a penalty shootout victory over Argentina at the Bombonera in Buenos Aires last November.
BILD state that the transfer could cost in excess of €12 million, which in all accounts could be a snip.
