Austria Wien celebrated a massive victory on Saturday night, with a score of 3-1 the Vienna club looks set to win another title this season with only four games remaining.
A brace from the league’s top scorer Philip Hosiner in the fourth and fifty third minutes put the home team soundly ahead before Tomas Jun added a third in the seventy third minute.
Rapid Wien remains in the race for European football next season. The team won its fixture this weekend. Rapid with only 50 points sit a mere five points ahead of RZ Pellets WAC and Sturm Graz who both have 45 points, hence Rapid’s 1-3 victory over rivals Sturm Graz was massive. Only the 3rd and 4th placed teams are eligible to enter Europa League Qualifying.
While Salzburg is already qualified for a European campaign with 67 points their close 2-1 victory over Admira Modling kept them in the race for the title however slim the chances are. Six points behind league leaders Austria Wien, Salzburg has to hope for a major slip up from the Vienna club which has won 23 Austrian titles, the last one coming in 2006. It is unlikely the hungry club will slip up against 9th placed FC Wacker Innsbruck next Saturday, but in the Bundesliga anything is possible.
