AUSTRIA: Bundesliga update

Austria Wien celebrated a massive victory on Saturday night, with a score of 3-1 the Vienna club looks set to win another title this season with only four games remaining.

A brace from the league’s top scorer Philip Hosiner in the fourth and fifty third minutes put the home team soundly ahead before Tomas Jun added a third in the seventy third minute.

Rapid Wien remains in the race for European football next season. The team won its fixture this weekend. Rapid with only 50 points sit a mere five points ahead of RZ Pellets WAC and Sturm Graz who both have 45 points, hence Rapid’s 1-3 victory over rivals Sturm Graz was massive. Only the 3^rd and 4^th placed teams are eligible to enter Europa League Qualifying.

While Salzburg is already qualified for a European campaign with 67 points their close 2-1 victory over Admira Modling kept them in the race for the title however slim the chances are. Six points behind league leaders Austria Wien, Salzburg has to hope for a major slip up from the Vienna club which has won 23 Austrian titles, the last one coming in 2006. It is unlikely the hungry club will slip up against 9^th placed FC Wacker Innsbruck next Saturday, but in the Bundesliga anything is possible.
