Manchester City and Belgium captain Vincent Kompany has bought FC Bleid of the Belgian third division group B. The team, who are based in Brussels, sit bottom of the league, with only two wins and four draws from their 25 games and post a less than impressive goal difference of -44. Their side contains illustrious players such as captain David Triantafillidis from Greece and Englishman Sam McMahon.
The clubs less than glamorous statistics has not deterred Kompany, who plans to completely reshape the club top to bottom, even re-naming the team, and views the opportunity to rebuild the club from scratch.
Kompany however will not be directly involved in the project as he declares that his time is better spent focusing on Manchester City and Belgium, and that his sister will take charge of the project with his blessing.
A website has been set up promoting this project, in which Kompany claims that he is giving something back to the people of Brussels, and urges fans to come up ideas for the team’s new name, shirts and even logo! If you are interested in Kompany’s full statement, a link to his website is found here
