Club: Southampton (ENGLAND)

Position: Left-Back

Birth date: 12/07/1995

Birth place: Kingston upon Thames, England

Southampton have been known for their fantastic academy products, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Gareth Bale and Chris Baird have all gone on to play in the Premier League. The club have now got yet another young player to boast about.

17-year-old Luke Shaw has progressed from the academy and reserves to first team football, the left-back has been at Southampton since a young age, and now has been given his reward by playing regular football in the Premier League.

Shaw has made 16 appearances so far this campaign and looks set to make the left-back position his own. Pace, ball control, dribbling ability and free-kick taking are just some of his impressive attributes which are continuing to give the Southampton manager no choice but to give him game time in the top flight.

The hot prospect has been labelled ‘the next Gareth Bale’, which attracted much attention from some of the best clubs in England, including Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea. However, former Saints manager Nigel Adkins was quick to announce that Shaw is not for sale despite the clubs previous decision to sell young talents.

Since Shaw’s involvement in the Saints first team starts this season, the previously struggling defence seem to have ‘Shawed up’ as the side are now slowly climbing the table.
